Blythewood, SC — July 4, 2026 — Local Midlands author Ken Roach, Ph.D. announces the release of Kenney Penney: The Church Shoes, the first installment in his five-part children's book series. Each book in the series serves as an inspirational episode designed to entertain, encourage, and empower young readers.
Based on actual life events, Kenney Penney: The Church Shoes utilizes the universal language of sports to teach youth how to endure adversity and triumph with an unconquerable attitude. Roach leverages his own life experiences to deliver a humorous, relatable narrative that captures the imagination of children and adults alike.
The book is structured to ensure that children can easily follow the plot and form a deep personal connection with the characters. Whether children read the book independently or listen to it during a group storytelling session, the core objective remains the same: to bring joy, spark liveliness, and inspire young minds to become strong, lionhearted, and venturous individuals.
Beyond entertainment, Roach says that Kenney Penney: The Church Shoes serves as a powerful developmental tool. The book features a dedicated section of engaging questions at its conclusion. This resource allows readers to express their feelings, helping to build critical self-awareness. Furthermore, it provides a structured opportunity for educators, parents, and guidance counselors to address negative thinking patterns and facilitate meaningful conversations during storytelling sessions.
Kenney Penney: The Church Shoes is now on Amazon and will soon appear at other major retailers and online sites.
