The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) has again been recognized by Niche.com as the No. 1 best public school in South Carolina and the No. 3 best public school nationally, up from the No. 4 spot in last year's survey.

“To be ranked No. 3 in the country and No. 1 right here at home is a testament to our curious and driven student body and our dedicated faculty and staff. While we don’t chase the rankings, seeing our community’s efforts recognized nationally is a proud moment for all of South Carolina,” said Danny Dorsel, GSSM president. “We share it with the outstanding K-12 schools and educators across our state who prepare students to thrive at GSSM, and with our state leaders and legislators whose belief in our mission and continued support make these opportunities possible for students across South Carolina.”

GSSM’s continued rise in the national rankings reflects the school’s longstanding commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student achievement. The school provides a rigorous science, technology, engineering, and math-focused curriculum that challenges talented students from across South Carolina while fostering creativity, leadership, and a passion for discovery. Through advanced coursework, hands-on research opportunities, and partnerships with universities and industry leaders, GSSM prepares graduates to succeed at the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities.
