Countybank Board of Directors Appoints James Owens Vice President

Posted

Countybank announces James Owens has been appointed to the position of vice president by the board of directors.

Owens, who joined Countybank in 2005, currently serves as the bank’s BSA Officer.  In this role, he works diligently with his team to protect customers and the community from financial crimes such as fraud, money laundering, and identity theft.  Owens also ensures bank operations comply with the Bank Secrecy Act, federal legislation that requires financial institutions to detect and prevent money laundering and report suspicious activities. Beyond compliance, he collaborates with other departments to implement internal safeguards that strengthen the bank’s overall security framework and is actively involved in modernizing the bank’s data management systems.

“James’ efforts to detect and prevent financial crimes are invaluable. In a community like ours, where relationships matter and trust is everything, the role of the BSA Officer is more than regulatory — it’s personal,” said Annette Scott, chief financial officer. “We’re proud to have someone as dedicated as James protecting our customers and our community.”

Owens earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Piedmont Technical College in 2004. He is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and a Certified AML and Fraud Professional (CAFP). Owens resides in Pendleton, South Carolina, with his wife and son.
